Get to Know Brooklyn A – LT Davis

LaTorrius Davis, or “LT” for short, is constantly juggling. As Executive Assistant to Brooklyn A’s Executive Director, Jessie Rose, LT not only has to manage a busy schedule but coordinate across the entire organization—including the staff, management team, board of directors, and plenty of outside partners. Even when schedules have lots of ups and downs, LT doesn’t seem to mind—he’s a huge roller coaster lover. Before Brooklyn A, LT taught Spanish in schools and through volunteer work with Big Brother Big Sister of America. At Brooklyn A, he gets the chance to further his goals to promote social justice and equity. Get to know LT in our latest Q&A:LT Davis (staff)

Q: Where are you from and what brought you to New York City?

LT: I grew up in the South and moved to New York City to pursue my career in foreign language education. The city’s energy and endless opportunities were other draws in my decision to relocate to the Big Apple.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your role at Brooklyn A?

LT: What I enjoy most is supporting the executive team as well as collaborating with other teams across the organization. I take pride in staying organized and solving problems. Each day brings a new puzzle to solve and that keeps things fresh.

Q: Your work as an Executive Assistant requires a lot of careful organization and you’re famously always on top of all details, big or small. What’s your secret to staying organized?

LT: I have developed a system that helps me stay on top of everything from clear processes and deadlines to accountability. By breaking tasks down into manageable steps and regularly checking on progress, I can keep things organized without feeling overwhelmed.

Q: What’s one interesting thing that people might not know about your job?

LT: One thing that often surprises people is how much problem-solving and adaptability my role involves. Managing schedules is not the sole focus. It requires anticipating needs, adjusting to unexpected changes, and keeping both current and future plans on track.

Q: You worked in a different industry before Brooklyn A. What’s it been like working at a nonprofit legal service provider?

LT: Working at a nonprofit legal service provider has been remarkably meaningful. The organization’s mission aligns closely with my passion for equity and social justice, and it’s fulfilling to be part of work that truly makes a difference in the community.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

LT: Aerial yoga is one of my hobbies. It helps with flexibility, relaxation, and stress relief. I also love roller coasters and am involved in a club for roller coaster enthusiasts, which highlights people of color and fosters an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere.

Q: What’s one movie, book (or author), TV show, or album you’ve enjoyed recently that you’d recommend to everyone?

LT: I found Mark Manson’s perspective insightful. His writing encourages readers to focus on what truly matters and what is within our control, helping to create a more meaningful life.
