Michelle Avery

Prior to joining Build Up Justice NYC, Michelle engaged in legal and policy research on matters involving access to justice and in her former role also provided programmatic oversight for a court-based volunteer program. She draws from over eleven years of legal experience that includes advocating for underserved families and individuals in Mount Vernon and New Rochelle City Court, as well as Pelham Town Court as a Housing attorney, intellectual property work for sole proprietors, consumer work for Bank of America, and public interest work for organizations such as the Guardian ad Litem 4th Circuit, to advance the mission of Build Up Justice NYC and the Preserving Affordable Housing Program. Michelle holds a B.S. from Cornell University, an M.P.S. from the Pratt Institute and a J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law.
